There Is Always More
Written and transcribed by Terry Grant
Most of spirituality involves the pursuit of a "Knower," an omniscient Being or Absolute Force that supposedly guides or controls the universe. People want to believe that a Knower exists, because that belief makes them feel safe and secure. Yet if there is nothing outside of Life, what need is there for security? If Life encompasses everything that is, including every possible event or experience, then Life is an ongoing exploration of limitless possibilities, not a search for safety.
In today's message, Ishvara speaks of Life as-it-is without a Knower. I have transcribed and edited his words from a talk he gave on October 11, 2005. - TG.
Ishvara:
All of Life, The Consciousness, is intelligence; it is knowing, but without a "Knower."
A human being experiences himself or herself as a "knower," someone who knows, and so the human being projects that onto the intelligence of Life. People think, "There must be someone who is experiencing this vast intelligence; someone who is the source of all of it." Yet Life, as intelligence, is simply experiencing itself. Every particle of Life is included in that process. Life is knowing without an ultimate "Knower."
Knowing is the energy that is intelligence. Knowing is the active aspect of intelligence. It is also cumulative; it is a synergy--that process in which the whole is greater than the sum of all the parts. You could say that knowing is really the synergy of the intelligence, the synergy of all the various experiences that come together and create a body of information, of data. As you begin to understand that, you recognize that it just exists; it is there; and you are a part of it. When you take another step, you begin to see you are that, and because you are connected with it, you have access to it. In that sense you are the "knower," but with a small "k."
In the context of eternity, temporarily there is a "knower," but that is simply to gain a greater grasp of what is possible, to embody a greater possibility, so it doesn't limit you. Just because you are a human being does not mean that you are limited to just humanness. There is a multi-dimensional aspect to you that is connected to everything.
Human existence is a small part of the intelligence that is Life; it is a piece of that synergy. As the new species of humanity comes into being, there is the ability to access even more of what that is. As the brain continues its evolution, more is known, and more becomes accessible. You are constantly participating in this unfolding experience of possibilities.
Now, an individual human expression can never access all of the intelligence, all of the knowing that is Life. It is too much for one brain to do. So no individual part of Life ever is the "Knower" (with a capital "K"). The "all" of intelligence can only be experienced and grasped through the connection of all of Life's manifestations. Each unique expression of Life has the capacity to connect to that intelligence, but the connection is individual and unique for each. When each of the components connect, the result is exponential, and more is known.
The "knowers" in Life are all "knowers" with a small "k". They are all aspects of the larger "knowing" that is Life, and that "knowing" is larger than all the "knowers" added together. The whole of intelligence that is Life cannot be known by an individual, but it can be increasingly accessed by an individual with the appropriate brain power. But to access all of it would require an eternity.
The human race knows and experiences a certain amount of that intelligence, but cannot experience all of it. The freer you become, and the more expanded you are, the more you access what is known, but no individual can ever be the "Knower" of all, because that would limit the intelligence of Life. Part of the intelligence that is Life will always remain a bit out of reach, beyond access.
The intellect looks at things from a more finite, limited perspective, and projects that onto the intelligence of Life. That is why people believe in God, or in some controlling force or "Being" from the outside: They are projecting their own, limited intellectual grasp of existence onto Life. Yet that cannot be done. One cannot contain or confine Life in any way. Life is always greater. Consequently, Life becomes eternal, because it is never going to fully manifest all of its Self. There is always more.
It is hard for the intellect to grasp this, because everything we know as humans comes to an end. So it is natural to project onto Life some kind of a beginning and some kind of an end. The intellect can't fathom that The Consciousness has been going on forever, and that it has no beginning, no source. It has no starting place; consequently, it has no ending place.
Scientists are trying to figure out the starting point, such as through the theory of the "Big Bang." But the "Big Bang" was really just another event in Life. Indeed, some physicists are now saying that the "Big Bang" was the result of the collision of "branes" (membranes) of different dimensions.
Each event of Life houses certain possibilities, and brings about certain awarenesses, so the intelligence of Life is always adding to itself, adding to itself, adding to itself.
Some scientists are searching for "the theory of everything." Yet one writer recently pointed out that if there were a theory of everything, there would have to be someone outside of everything in order to recognize the theory. But there can't be anything that is outside of everything; therefore, there cannot be a theory of everything. There can only be a theory of some things, and humans are going to have to be satisfied with that, because that is all they are going to get.
My name is Ishvara, which means: "All that humanity can know of The Consciousness." But "all that humanity can know" does not mean all of it. It can't be all of it. There is always more.
